My Sun-Mercury-Saturn in Gemini and Moon in Capricorn frequently struggle to understand insanity. I don’t mean clinical insanity (though maybe it’s not exempt!), but the calculated insanity imposed upon moderate people — crazy-makers, rather than crazy people per se. Just look at all the loonies shouting and crying out against Obama’s ‘death panels’ and ’socialism’. [...]

The Sunshine Boy (Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, Iceland 2009)
There are some films that have the power to change the world, and I hope this one actually proves it.
Fridrik Thor Fridriksson directs this documentary about one woman’s journey to try and understand her autistic son’s mind. In adopting the voice of one [...]
Safe space, open space

Neeti Ray’s comment about my use of the analogy of the front porch below got me thinking about how we create psychic spaces safely for others to enter, and how we behave when we are invited into another’s.
Children’s literature is full of these spaces: Winnie-the-Pooh’s 100 Acre Wood is one, Narnia is another. These are [...]

The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying (1992) is an interpretation for the modern world by Sogyal Rinpoche a collection of texts commonly known as the Tibetan Book of the Dead.
Sogyal Rinpoche interprets some of the ideas from the ancient texts for the modern world, and argues that the lack of respect for death [...]

I want to thank everyone on the Sasstrology.net forum who helped me ponder my apparent invisibility.
I am currently re-reading Joy Michaud’s The Uranus-Neptune Influence (1994). She writes that the way to best channel Neptune’s idealism and ethereality is through Saturn, not so much in terms of fencing in, or limiting, Neptune’s expression, but in [...]

Reassessing what I value must include extending those values to others.
If there is anything Mercury in Gemini values, it is the power of words.
Mercury in Gemini in conversation with Mercury in Virgo: Implications and obligations

[Cross-posted in my Mercury Retrograde blog]
In preparation for Mercury rx in Gemini and Virgo later this year, I thought I’d share a little life example that occurred to me recently of a conversation between someone with Mercury in Gemini (me) and someone with Mercury in Virgo. Although Mercury rules both signs, their conversational styles, processes [...]
Owning the words we think, speak and write

I’m cross-posting this on my Mercury retrograde blog, since it has direct relevance on Mercury-ruled activities of thinking, writing and speaking.
The Sun (life force) is currently conjunct Mercury (ideas, communication) and Mars (passion, action, anger) in truth-seeking Sagittarius, trine Vesta in Taurus, prompting me to think and write about what it means to take [...]
Dignity and destiny

I did sign up for a gestalt course after all, and the experience was really interesting and illuminating. What draws me to it is the emphasis on self-responsibility and awareness. The encounter itself is difficult to put into words, and true to the gestalt philosophy, must be experienced.
Cake tray emotionalism

This is going to be one of those mental pogo leap posts but, hey, if you can’t think in incongruous images on your own blog, where can you?
First of all, recall the iMac G4 (ca. 2002–2004), best personified in this ‘Window Shopping’ advertisment:
A friend of mine calls it the ‘cake tray’ [...]
Controlled chaos, or thoughts on the Saturn-Uranus opposition

Call it ‘the Grand Irrationality’, as Robert Wilkinson does, or a ‘tricky time’ as this reader does on ElsaElsa.com. There’s a weirdness in the air — a sense that what we know, experiences we have built up (Saturn), may not, or cannot, help us make sense of the chaos (Uranus) we sense. The economy is [...]
